External Memory Slot in Mobile Phone

Mobile phones have External memory slot placed at rear side (internal) and in new phones on the left or right side of phone (top side also). The rear side slot can be accessed by opening the back cover and placed below or near to battery seating.
This is sometimes called as expandable memory as you can add this memory in addition to internal memory

External memory is normally a Micro SD card and can be fit into this memory slot

They come with 4GB, 8GB, 16GB, 32GB, 64GB, 128GB, 256GB etc

If the Mobile phone description says memory expandable to 64GB or upto 64GB, it means that you can use Micro SD card from 4GB to 64GB. Higher than 64GB it cannot recognize. Sometimes the lowest size Micro SD card (4GB) might not be detected or shown.
